WHY HORSES ?
Horses are non-verbal and respond quickly to our energetic presence. This type of non-verbal communication experienced when interacting in equine coaching activities invites us drop into our bodies and let go of our constant thinking minds.
Horses are communal and their communal natures and herd dynamics are rich sources for drawing parallels to human relationships and group interactions.
Horses are constantly monitoring their own internal state first. Focusing on its relationship with self-first, teaches us to continuously be aware of what’s going on for us internally. This informs us to make our best choices for ourselves. They operate from an internal locus of control providing non-judgmental instant feedback.
Horses are always engaged in present moment awareness calling us to congruence in the present moment as well.
Horses set clear boundaries and give us opportunities to learn to do the same.
Horses are sensitive prey animals, they are the ones in danger of being eaten, so this makes them extra sensitive to their environment in order to survive. This is true even for domesticated horses.
Through the eyes of a horse, you are given an opportunity to see your blind spots, your strengths and how the patterns that show up in the arena play out in other areas of your life.
WHAT IS EQUINE ASSISTED COACHING?
From our perspective, horses will reflect exactly what you need to see about yourself. Your relationship with them will call attention to parts of yourself that have an agenda and interfere in some way with your capacity for presence. They will also mirror back the most soulful and beautiful parts of you.
Horses are teachers of self-awareness. Like humans, they are social beings that live together in herds with defined hierarchies, roles, responsibilities, and relationships very similar to our family systems. They are alert, intuitive, emotional, and authentic because their survival is intimately connected with their relationships to everyone and everything around them.
WHAT IF I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH HORSES?
No worries! Equine assisted coaching is groundwork in the round pen or herding pen with one horse and certified coach to facilitate the interaction. No riding or experience with horses is necessary, just a willingness to show up and recieve.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
When you participate in an Equine Coaching session using horses, you have a unique opportunity to know yourself through the reflection of an honest, sensitive being who can give you immediate non-judgmental feedback. The experience will be playful, creative and bring you in alignment with the peace of your essential Self.
Because horses are primarily relational they can help you become more authentic, more self-aware, more confident within yourself and they can help you deepen relationships. They also have an intuitive and loving presence and often help you open your heart, experience trust and intimacy, and discover how to live more fully in your body.
You will receive clear and grounded feedback that connects you to your own inner wisdom. The horses will invite you to synchronize with the natural beauty of nature and connect with your own natural state of peacefulness.
